I grew up in Carroll County, and have lived in Maryland my whole life except for the four years I was in college. I was a high school coach for 12 years, and still stay involved officiating when I can. We love visiting National Parks, traveling and watching a good movie as a family. I still try to run, hike, walk and bike when I can.

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
My wife and I have been married for almost 5 years now. We have two kids, Lucas 3 and Colton 1

Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
I am a web developer and have been with the same company for 20 years now. I first started there because it allowed me to coach, which was my passion. To this day, I still love how flexible it is because it allows me to spend time with my family.

Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
We moved to New Market 5 1/2 years ago.

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
This is hard, but I will have to go with our neighbors Rob and Tina. Rob is a firefighter, which is an amazing profession. They were the first two to welcome us to the neighborhood, and have always been there when we needed help, or just some stress relief.

Q: What advice would you give to people?
Don’t have any regrets. When you have to make a decision, always have faith that it was the right decision and never look back wondering “what if”.

Q: What is something on your bucket list?
Visit all the US National Parks. My wife and I also have a goal to run a race in every state.

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
We love all the trails to explore in the area; there are so many hidden gems to find. We love being so close to so much, but without feeling like we live in a city. Country living is for us!

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
Hopefully watching our kids grow and learn in the Frederick County Community. We see this as our forever home, and don’t anticipate us moving in the foreseeable future.

Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
This one is tough. I will have to go with that I was hit by a truck at 50 mph while I was running. The paramedics gave me a 50% chance of surviving, and the initial doctors told me I would be lucky to walk again, but yet to this day I still run, much slower, and most would have no idea what I had gone through at one time.

Q: What is the most beautiful place you have ever been?
So many to choose from. I will have to go with the top of Tahoe Falls in Lake Tahoe National Park.

Q: Favorite month? favorite holiday? and best single day on the calendar?
Easily Christmas. We grew up with a lot of holiday traditions, and it was especially special for me and my mom, who funny enough was Jewish. From painting ceramics, to making cookies. I still make some of my mother’s recipes, and typically bake around 30 different kinds each year. We also put up a huge Christmas Village each year with over 180 lighted houses, and invite friends, family and neighbors to an open house to come see it.

Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
Walt Disney World, National Parks, and time with the kids.

Q: What person, event or experience has made the greatest impact or inspiration in your life?
There are so many. I will go with my college coach for now. He was always so much more than just a coach. And when I was hit by the truck my senior year with just 8 weeks till graduation he drove the team over 100 miles to visit me in the hospital. He also promised to do everything he could to help me graduate that spring, and he drove me everyday to the hospital for physical therapy when I did return to school. He also gave me the chance to run one final race, although slow which ended up being probably the most inspirational thing I have ever done in my life, and led to my passion for coaching.

Q: Finally, what 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?
Family, Love, Safe
