Hi, I’m Jenny! My family and I are relatively new to the town of New Market. I lived my entire life in the same house in Northern Virginia until I moved away to Utah for college; which happens to also be where I met my husband of 11 years. Since then we have been fortunate enough to travel around the world and even live abroad, thanks to his career in the military. As fun as it is to experience living in a new place every few years, we are happy to settle down, call this little town “home”, and continue to raise our family here in New Market.
Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
My husband and I have two children, our daughter is weeks away from turning 6, and our son is 3.5 years old. We also have a 10 year old husky and a 1 year old cat.
Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
After my husband and I got married, I worked as a certified nursing assistant for several years until we moved away to Germany. After my daughter was born, I decided to be a stay at home mom up until recently. I am now an assistant Photographer to a fellow New Market resident, Jessica Neumann, at Jessica Neumann Photography.
Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
We have lived in New Market for just over one year now. And I have worked at Jessica Neumann Photography for 6 months.
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
That’s a tough one, everyone we’ve met has been so friendly and interesting! We’ve lived here for such short amount of time, I’m sure we have plenty more people to meet!
Q: What advice would you give to people?
There are three quotes that have been shared with me from varying parts of my life that have continued to stick with me and can be applied to most any season of life and those are: “variety is the spice of life” “blessed are the flexible, for they never get bent out of shape” and “find what you love, learn everything about it, bet your life on what you know.”
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
Honestly, anything travel related. Life is not meant to be lived in one place.
Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
Our favorite thing about our community is the people! We’ve made some really good friends in the relatively short amount of time that we’ve lived here.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
In 5 to 10 years, I see our family in the same house that we are in now. Driving the kids back and forth from sports practices and activities.
Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
As much as I want to call myself a city girl, I secretly want a ton of land to watch my kids run around on. I think it would be fun to own some chickens and goats and live off our land….to a point.
Q: What is the most beautiful place you have ever been?
There are so many beautiful places running through my head right now. Southern Utah is easily one of the most beautiful places on earth, as far as landscape goes anyways. I also think the architecture of the homes and the canals of Amsterdam is up there on my list.
Q: Favorite month? favorite holiday? and best single day on the calendar?
I love everything about the Fall season. All the colors, crisp evenings, cuddling up in a blanket. There’s nothing better.
Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
Snuggles with my kids.
Q: What person, event or experience has made the greatest impact or inspiration in your life?
Raising children is definitely the most impactful and greatest experience of my life. And also, my Mom. She was a single mom for almost my entire life after my dad passed away when I was four years old. To raise a child and work full time is no easy task, but she did it with such grace and intention.
Q: Finally, what 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?
Family, comfort, happiness…and sometimes chaos.
