Hi! My name is Ashley. I’m married to Mike, and we have four awesome kids together. We both graduated from Linganore many moons ago, and are excited to have our kids continue on and be Lancers as well #RollTribe. I’ve lived in Frederick County almost my entire life. We left in search of “bigger things” and but then shortly found our way back when we had kids and wanted to settle down. We tried to leave again, and well as everyone seems to know… we’re still here!
I find that I’m still trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up, so for now I’m sticking with what I love and that’s running around for sports/practices/plays, waitressing at the Derby, and working at our church. I love all things surrounding birth and love supporting and empowering women with their births. I am a very passionate person, I love hard, and I love to help other people.
Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
I’ve been married to Mike for 12 years, we’ve been together since I graduated from high school. We have four kids together ages 5-14.
Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
Oh goodness, well I’ve tried several different things, and my career path has changed a few times. I’m currently working in Administration at our church, and waitressing at the Derby. I love being able to talk to everyone. It brings my extroverted heart so much joy
Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
I’ve lived in New Market since 2011. I was a nanny for a good bit when my kids were younger. Now you can find me at the Derby or on the LOUYAA fields
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
This is such a hard question. I’ve met so many amazing people, and reconnected with so many people from high school as well.
Q: What advice would you give to people?
There’s always three sides to every story…. so don’t always listen to a single side and make a quick judgement
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
Skydiving, hands down!
Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
That everyone knows everyone. You go anywhere and someone is asking about your kids. You can ask for advice on local events and someone will always be able to lend a hand. We look out for each other.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
Still in New Market, it’s been proven that we cannot leave. Crazy to say we’ll be looking at colleges for a couple of our kids and planning graduations.
Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
I wanted to be a doctor, probably since I was 8. Despite being great in school, I never learned how to study. I loathe chemistry, and therefore changed my major about 4 times. Now working in the healthcare field terrifies me and I want to stay away, far far away.
Q: What is the most beautiful place you have ever been?
Skyline drive in the fall. It holds the most beautiful memories.
Q: Favorite month? favorite holiday? and best single day on the calendar?
Favorite month- October. Favorite Holiday- Christmas. Favorite single day- I’ll be selfish and say my birthday.. now where’s my laughing emoji??
Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
Cool night, friends and family hanging out, a fire, and s’mores.
Q: What person, event or experience has made the greatest impact or inspiration in your life?
Having our first child. She taught me what true love is. She helped me grow into the person that I am… and she’s still keeping me on my toes to this day. She is always authentic, true to herself, and leads those around her.
Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
Lady Gaga! She’s just a whole vibe. She’s always her true authentic self and I would love to meet her. We would obviously go to the Derby for a beer and pizza.
Q: Finally, what 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?
Love, memories, laughter
