I am a 35 year New Market resident, having served with the New Market District VFC for 22 years. I am a proud father of two daughters, Avery & Arabella, who both attend school in New Market, also husband of Kelly Nalborczyk. All with the exception of the last year, all of my time in New Market had been spent living in various locations up and down Main St and South Alley– there is nothing like it. I also am employed by the District of Columbia Fire and EMS Department, serving for 15 years and currently at the rank of Lieutenant. Service to others is my lifestyle and I wouldn’t know what to do with myself if I wasn’t helping someone else.
Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
Father of two amazing daughters, Avery and Arabella, with a loving wife named Kelly. I am step-son and step-grandson to the Fossett Family of the East side of town and through those family roots have much connection to many in New Market. My biological parents roots in Frederick County are from the Western portion of the county. On my fathers side of the family I am only the 2nd American born generation as my grandfather’s parents and siblings were Polish/Ukrainian immigrants that escaped the World War II era Germany.
Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
In my non-compensated career, New Market District VFC, I have worked my way through the ranks to the position of Fire Chief which I have held for the past 11 years, Volunteering will always be a part of my life, so the sky is the limit related to the service I will continue to provide there. In my profession with DC Fire & EMS over 15 years I have been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and over the next 10 years hope to rise to the rank of Deputy Fire Chief. At minimum I have to serve the Nations Capitol for 10 more years and most likely will stay 15 years to fully embrace the job. Post professional retirement, I hope to achieve the rank of system Fire Chief in a combination, Career and Volunteer, department to give back to a system just as New Market, Frederick County and DCFEMS have to me over my tenure with those departments.
Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?

Our community is diverse and full of different individuals making them interesting in their own way, to pick one interesting person is extremely hard.

Q: What is something on your bucket list?

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
Still plugging along as a proud New Market resident, watching my kids graduate and head off to college, still serving our community with the VFC and working hard to advance my professional goals.
