I am a business and intellectual property attorney. My family and I have lived in Lake Linganore in New Market, Maryland since 2013. I am originally from Greensburg, Pennsylvania near to Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. I am a 2001 graduate of The Pennsylvania State University and a 2004 graduate of the Marquette University Law School. After graduating law school, I knew that I wanted to live in Maryland, so I moved to the Towson area and worked at a large Baltimore firm. A couple of years later, I found a job in the areas in which I really wanted to practice in Frederick and moved to the area in 2006, after finishing my MBA.

I immediately loved the Frederick area and knew I wanted to stay here. I became heavily involved in the community and continued to work and raise my family here. Since that time, I got married, had two children and started my own law practice, Henry Martin Law, here in Frederick.

I am an avid sports fan and love my Penn State Nittany Lions, Steelers and Penguins. I enjoy collecting and enjoying bourbon and cigars. I love running, cycling, hiking and recently started to learn more about photography. I was a triathlete for many years and even finished an Ironman, but eventually grew to hate swimming, so now I just bike and run.

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
My wife, Elise Abromson, is a psychologist here in Frederick. We have two boys, Evan and Andrew. Our two wonderful black labs, Charlie and Louie, just passed away recently, but we still have our two cats, Woody and Banks. Much of our time is spent traveling around the East Coast, watching our youngest son, Evan, play ice hockey. He is a goalie and just made the Little Capitals AAA team. We are very excited for him. Andrew, our oldest son, keeps us plenty busy as well and is thinking about a career in interior design.

Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
I have been practicing law for approximately 18 years, primarily in the areas of Business and Intellectual Property i.e. Trademarks, Copyrights, Trade Secrets, Licensing. I work, primarily, with small and emerging businesses helping them start-up and operate their own small businesses, protect their business assets, and pursue whatever it is they love to do. What I love most about what I do is helping my clients take a small thought in their mind about what they want to achieve, and to help them find a path to actually achieve that goal and make sure they are properly protected from business risks along the way. For me, there is nothing better than to see my clients succeed on their own in business.

Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
I have lived and worked in Frederick since 2006 and, specifically in New Market, since 2013.

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
I have met A LOT of interesting people here. I don’t think I could limit it to just one.

Q: What advice would you give to people?
Don’t work a job simply because it pays well. Find a passion and pursue it. If you pursue your passion, the rest will follow.

Q: What is something on your bucket list?
I would love to explore the South Pacific countries.

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
The thing I love about Frederick, generally, and New Market specifically, especially as a history lover, is how our community celebrates its rich history while also embracing and being home to so many cutting edge technologies, especially in the area of bio-tech. The interplay between the old and new is everywhere. You see it in so many buildings and homes.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
Hopefully, in ten years, I will still be able to do all the things that I love to do i.e. cycling, running, hiking, and travel a little bit more internationally.

Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
When I was 9 years old, my father bet me that I could not abstain from watching television for a year. I completed the bet and was on television and in newspapers around the world. I even made CNN headline news and was interviewed on several talk shows.

Q: What is the most beautiful place you have ever been?
The Smoky Mountains.

Q: Favorite month? favorite holiday? and best single day on the calendar?
November. Thanksgiving. November 1, my birthday

Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
Cycling in early fall through Amish country in Lancaster, Pa.

Q: What person, event or experience has made the greatest impact or inspiration in your life?
In 2007, I completed the Florida Ironman. That experience taught me that I can literally do just about anything I put my mind to.

Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
David Goggins. That guy is a master motivator and has such an incredible story. We would have to eat while running, probably.

Q: Finally, what 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?
Family. Comfortable. Fun.
